University of Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman explains details of the institution's budget during a visit to the Gazette newsroom this morning. He pointed out that the university has made budget cuts of nearly $31 million over the past five years, and warned of more cuts and tuition increases that might have to be imposed under Gov. Dave Heineman's proposed 4 percent state budget increase or even the 4.7 percent increase proposed by the Legislature's appropriations committee.
