Robert F. Hedges, 87, died Saturday (April 21, 2007) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

He was born Dec. 9, 1919, at Indianola, the son of Herbert and Sarah (Evans) Hedges. He graduated from Indianola Public Schools, McCook Jr. College and the University of Nebraska.

He entered the U.S. Navy serving during World War ll. On Feb. 6, 1944, he married Florence Harner at Corpus Christi, Texas. They returned to Indianola in November 1945 where they farmed north west of Indianola until retiring in 1983. In 1998, they moved to McCook.

He was a member of McCook Elks Lodge 1434 and Mathias - Colling American Legion Post at Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence on Oct.14, 2002; three brothers, Gordon Hedges, Gerace Hedges and Winston Hedges; and four sisters, Janice Hedges, Mamie Wagner, Wilaford Swisher and Helen Shumard.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Sevier and husband, Marty of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Robert Hedges and wife, Chris of Fulsom, Calif., and Jerry Hedges and wife, Nora of Broomfield, Colo.; one sister, Joy Dow of Indianola; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No services or visitation are planned at this time and Inumment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given in his name to McCook Community Hospital and left at the Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook
