Ashley Nicole Rice of Wilsonville and Cody Robert Gerlach of DeWitt announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

Parents of the couple are Tony and Patricia Rice of Wilsonville, Rick and Amy Gerlach of DeWitt and Neal and Linda Freese of Plymouth.

The bride-to-be is a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln pursuing a degree in advertising. The prospective bridegroom is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln pursuing a degree in New Editorial Journalism. He will be working for the Clay County News covering high school sports across south central Nebraska.

The couple is planning a May 5, 2007, ceremony at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
