STRATTON -- Willard Alva "Bill" Latta, died Thursday, (April 19, 2007) at Community Hospital in McCook, Neb., at the age of 77.
He was born March 8, 1930, to Albert and Zelma (Harding) Latta at his parents' home north of Stratton. He attended Hitchcock County rural schools and graduated from Stratton High School in 1947. After high school, Bill continued to work on the family farm.
On Feb. 13, 1960, Bill was united in marriage to Arda Hidy in Trenton, Neb., and to this union, two sons were born, Mark and Casey.
Bill spent most of his life as a farmer and rancher. After his retirement, he continued living on the farm. In addition to enjoying the rural ways of life on the farm, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church of Stratton.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Albert and Zelma Latta; brothers Paul and Albert, Jr.; and sisters, Donna Grosse and husband Bud, Betty Latta, and Dorothy Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Arda Latta of Stratton; sons, Mark Latta and wife, Kathy of McCook, and Casey Latta and wife, Terri of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Jack and Katie of McCook, and Max of Lincoln; sister, Marjorie Miles of McCook; brother-in-law, Wayne Baker of Hot Springs, S.D.; sisters-in-law, Redonda Latta of Stratton and Michelle Latta; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church in Stratton with Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.
Memorials may be given in his name.
