LEXINGTON -- Emma Jurjens, 89 of Eustis, died Wednesdy (April 18, 2007) at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
She was born to August and W. Martha (VonLoh) Koch on Aug. 1, 1917, at her parents home east of Eustis. She was baptized Sept. 2, 1917, and confirmed May 24, 1941. She attended rural District No. 2 and graduated from Eustis High School in 1935. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and taught rural school in Frontier County for five years, two years in Dawson County, and three years in the upper grades in Smithfield.
On Dec. 29, 1947, she married Amos Jurjens and the couple made their home on a farm site southwest of Eustis.
She was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis. She was also a member of the Birthday-Club for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1994; an infant sister, Lucy; a sister, Ellen Schutz of Elwood; and four brothers, Walter, Elmer, Harold and Herbert Koch all of Eustis.
Survivors include two sons, Von and wife, Gail and Verl and wife, Monika all of Eustis; a daughter, Vyla and husband, David Brown of Ogallala; brother, Clarence and wife, Ilene Koch of Missouri; a brother-in-law, Ben Jurjens of Salem, Mo.; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jurjens of Abilene, Kan., and Marcella Koch and Rosemary Koch both of Eustis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis with the Rev. Beverly Rautenberg-Panko officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis.
