Longhorn boys, girls sweep home track invite

IMPERIAL -- Chase County's girls and boys hosted the Imperial invitational Tuesday.

Both the Longhorns girls and boys won their home meet defeating six other varsity teams as well as junior varsity.

Perkins County's boys finished second behind the Longhorns, Ogallala took third and Hershey was fourth.

Garden County ended the top five, while Holyoke took sixth, Sedgwick County was seventh and Ogallala JV was eighth. Perkins County JV took ninth and Chase County JV was tenth.

Ogallala fell in second place behind the Longhorn girls, Perkins County took third and Sedgwick County was fourth.

Hershey was fifth, Holyoke sixth and Garden County seventh. Chase County's JV team finished the day in eighth place.

Mathew May led the Longhorns with two first place medals. May won the 200 and 400.

Lance Milner, Brett Gooden and Rony Sieperda were also medal winners. Milner took the 300 meter hurdles, Gooden won the 800 and Sieperda won the long jump.

The Longhorns also won the 4x800 and 4x400 relay and posted a new record in the 4x400 with a time of 3 minutes and 30.2 seconds.

Lance Wilson took back two first place wins for Perkins County. Wilson won the 110 meter high hurdles and the shot put.

Tim Burge and Craig Loefler also earned first place medals in the 100 and discus. Perkins County relay runners won the 4x100 and the 4x100 weight person's relay.

Erica Pirog and Cara Kunnemann led the Chase County girls. Pirog earned three first place medals in the 400, 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. Kunnemann took two first place wins in the 1600 and 3200.

Tiffany Regier and Celeste Pankonin joined in with wins in the long jump and high jump for the Longhorns.

The girls also won the 4x800, 4x100 and the 4x400 posting a new record time of 4:17.6.

Carlie Sis and Brionne White took home first place wins for Perkins County.

Sis won the 100 and White took the shot put. The Plainswomen also won the 4x100 relay.

Wallace meet

WALLACE -- Wallace's track teams host the Wallace High School invitational Tuesday.

Arnold won the event on the girls side, with Mullen taking, second, Creek Valley in third and Paxton taking fourth. McPherson County finished in fifth, Sutherland was sixth and Wallace was seventh. South Platte followed in eighth, Hyannis was ninth and Arthur took tenth.

Creek Valley on the boys division, Arnold took second and Wallace's boys were third. Sutherland finished in fourth, Hyannis was fifth, McPherson County was sixth and McPherson County was seventh. Arthur took eighth and Paxton was ninth. Mullen finished in tenth and South Platte took the 11 spot.

Kalen Prentice of Arnold and Laurette Beal of South Platte posted new meet records in the pole vault. Both girl's vaults were ten feet with Prentice taking first and Beal following in second place.

Jackie Griffiths and Brooke Harris led Wallace's girls.

Griffiths finished first in the 1600 and Harris won the 800. Wallace's boys won the 4x800 relay and finished second in the 4x400 and 4x100.
