Cambridge girls, Dundy boys 1st at Med Valley

Area track teams competed in the Medicine Valley invitational Monday in McCook.

Cambridge won the girls division with Medicine Valley taking second and Dundy County third.

Southwest took the fourth spot, Maywood was fifth and Arapahoe was sixth. McCook's junior varsity finished seventh, Stapleton was eighth and Hayes Center was ninth.

Dundy County's boys took the number one spot in the team scores. Cambridge ended the day in second, Hayes Center was third and Arapahoe was fourth.

McCook JV boys rounded out the top five, Maywood was sixth and Stapleton took seventh. Southwest finished eighth and Medicine Valley was ninth.

Frankie Petersen led Cambridge's girls. Petersen won the high jump and the 400. Bailey Soucie and Shelby Schultz also took home first place medals for the Trojans in the discus and shot put.

Heather Wills earned two first place medals for Medicine Valley. Wills took the win in the long jump and triple jump. The Raiders also won the 4x400 relay.

Dundy County's girls took the win in both the 4x800 and 4x100 relays. Kyle Glidden and Jordan Stroup teamed to lead Dundy County's boys.

Glidden won both the discus and triple jump and Stroup double medaled in the 1600 and 3200. The Tigers also won the 4x800 relay.

Lance Shifflet took home three first place medals for Cambridge. Shifflet won the 100, 300 meter hurdles and 400. The Trojans also won the 4x400.

Hayes Center's boys took the 4x100-meter relay. The Cardinals also had three first-place finishers in Tyler Clifford, Brian Christner and Evan Richter.

Hayes Center hosts area teams in its meet Wednesday in McCook.
