Maudie L. Oberg, 94, died Friday (March 30, 2007), at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born Sept. 22, 1912, in Bonner Springs, Kan., to Thomas and Ella (Morash) Tirrill. She attended rural school at District 8 south of McCook.

On March 5, 1935, she married Gustaf "Gus" Oberg in McCook. He preceded her in death in January of 1995. Gus was employed by the Frenchman Irrigation District. The couple lived in Edison for three years, then in McCook, moving to Cambridge in 1962. She moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in 2002.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Cambridge and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gus, two sons, infant William in 1937, Eddie in 2004; a daughter, Charlene Doherty on 2000; and two sisters: Iva McNutt and Dorothy Lunkwitz.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Oberg of Culbertson; a son-in-law, Kenneth Doherty of Texas; a sister, Elizabeth Edwards; a brother, Lester Tirrill, both of McCook; 13 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for Monday, 11 a.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook at 1:30 p.m.

Memorials may be left to the Trinity United Methodist Church or Hillcrest Nursing Home.
