NORTH PLATTE -- Katherine Levinia Fisher, 84, died Monday (March 26, 2007) at North Platte.
She was born Sept. 19, 1922, to Marie and Edward Anderson. She grew up in the Curtis area and attended rural elementary schools in the Curtis area and the Nebraska School of Agriculture.
As a young woman, she completed the normal training to teach elementary education. She taught for 10 years in one room school houses in the Frontier County School District.
She was married in the post World War II era to Roy Burton Fisher of Moorefield.
She was active in the Church of God in Moorefield and later in the United Methodist Church in Curtis.
She is survived by her husband Roy B. Fisher; a daughter Carol Jean McKennon; sons, Marvin R. Fisher and Darrell L. and wife, Linda Fisher; a sister, Grace Hanthorn of McCook; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 3 p.m., at the United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. Jeff Thurman and Lee Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Moorefield Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, 4-8 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the Medicine Valley High School Foundation Fund or the First United Methodist Church.
