Jean L. McGuire

Jean L. McGuire died Saturday (March 24, 2007) at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook at the age of 89.

She was born Feb. 13, 1918, at a farm house in Decatur County, the daughter of the late Fred and Ella S. (Nulk) Osburn. Jean grew up at Danbury where she graduated from Danbury High School in 1935. She attended Kearney State College.

She moved to Denver, Colo., where she was employed by Montgomery Ward. In 1944, she moved to San Francisco, Calif., where she worked for the 12th Naval District.

On March 11, 1945, Jean married Charles A. Hutto and they returned to McCook in 1947.

On June 19, 1952, Jean married Kenneth McGuire and they spent over fifty years of their married life in McCook. Jean worked as a secretary for an insurance office and for several years for the Red Willow County Clerk's office.

She was an active member of the wives auxillary of the Burlington Railroad.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hutto and two sisters, Mae Weatherwax and Clara Osburn.

Jean is survived by her husband, Kenneth; one son, Charles Thomas Hutto of McCook; two grandchildren, Eric Hutto and wife, Stacey of Trenton and Robin Hutto of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; one sister, June Splichal of Lincoln; nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside inurnrnent will be 10:30 a.m., Monday in Calvary Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name. Friends may sign her register book at Herrmann Funeral Home during regular business hours.
