Margaret E. (Decker) Roedel, 96, died Sunday (March 18, 2007) at Sterling, Colo.
She was born June 29, 1910, in Giltner, to Isaac Newton and Nellie (Whitacre) Skinner. She grew up in Hamilton County, and graduated from Phillips High School in 1928. She was a graduate of Kearney State Teachers College.
In 1934, she married James Ennis Decker and moved to Wauneta. In 1945, they moved to McCook. He died in 1952. In 1963, she married Enoch Roedel. He died in 1991. In 2005, she moved to Sterling, Colo., to be closer to family.
She taught second grade at West Ward for 21 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, and a past member of American Association of University Women and Retired Teachers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; 10 brothers; two sisters; and a step-son.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Turley and husband, John of Littleton, Colo.; Peg Bell and husband, Lowell of Sterling, Colo; one son, James Decker and wife, JoAnn of Benkleman; step-children, Dean Roedel and wife, Joanne of Greeley, Colo, Lois Lepper of McCook, Mary VanderMolen of Aurora, Colo, Carol Ruland and husband, Bob of Greeley, Colo; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Randy Wahl officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name to Peace Lutheran Church and KNGN Radio.
Visitation is today and Friday from 9 a.m. -8 p.m.
