LINCOLN -- E. Dean Everitt, Sr., 82, of Lincoln, widower of Dolores (Dee) Everitt, died Friday (Feb. 23, 2007).

He was born in Omaha on Nov. 6, 1924. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1942.

He lettered in football, basketball and track and was All-Conference in all three sports and Honorable Mention All-State in football as tailback. He was on the first (original) Goldenrod Conference winning football team in 1941.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabee during World War II in the No. 1036 Special Seabee Detachment and the 27th Special Seabee Battalion "B" Company from August 1943 through March 1946.

He received basic and advanced training at Camp Peary in Williamsburg, Va., served overseas 21 months in Pacific Theatre, Pearl Harbor, Tinian Island and Okinawa.

He returned to the University of Nebraska Lincoln after World War II and graduated from College of Business Administration in the spring of 1949.

He married Dolores Peterson on Dec. 20, 1947. To this union were born, E. Dean Everitt, Jr., Kristine (Kris) Everitt, Jon Walter Everitt and Robert (Bob) Pierce Everitt.

He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at UNL.

After graduation from UNL, he was employed by the Long Bell Lumber Co., in Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri from 1946 -1953. He moved back to Lincoln in September 1953, and was employed by Midwest Lumber Co., until May 31, 1954.

He began a career with the Yankee Hill Brick Mfg. Co., on June 1, 1954, in Lincoln and served as sales representative, sales manager, vice president of sales and marketing, and architectural sales representative until retiring Dec. 31, 1994.

After retirement he stayed on with Yankee Hill Brick Mfg. Co., as a self-employed architectural sales representative until January 2001. On Jan. 31 2001, he became self-employed with Lumbermans Brick & Supply Co. until Feb 4, 2007.

During his career he served as President of Region No. 6 - BlA (Brick Institute of America), National Director of BIA- served on Executive Committee, Marketing Committee and BIA Liaison Committee with Masonry Contractors of American (MCA).

He was a founding member of Nebraska Masonry Institute and received achievement award from Nebraska Masonry Institute for "Continued personal dedication to the development of interests on behalf of the masonry industry."

Special interests included Big Band and Jazz Music and Big Red Football (Go Big Red!) and he was a member of Nebraska Jazz Orchestras Jazz Club and Board of Directors.

He was also a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church, American Legion Post No. 3 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by wife, Dee Everitt, daughter Kristine Everitt, and son, Jon Walter Everitt.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, E. Dean Everitt, Jr. and Peggy Everitt of Trenton, son and daughter-in-law, Robert P. (Bob) Everitt and Karen Everitt of Lincoln; grandchildren, Melissa Everitt, Justin Everitt, Katie Everitt, and Griffin Everitt.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D Street in Lincoln. Inurnment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.
