ATWOOD --?Agnes Elizabeth (Schmid) Barenberg, 88, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2007) at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, Ariz.
She was born July 1, 1919, to Martin and Eva (Haller) Schmid in Ludell, Kan. She married Steve Barenberg on Jan. 5, 1938.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve; parents, Martin and Eva; daughter, Teresa and husband, David Baes; daughter-in-law, Betty Barenberg; grandson, Justin Barenberg; eight brothers, Jim, Frankie, Freddy (Fritz), Paul, Louis, Andrew, Charles (Bushy), and Johnny; four sisters, Katherine (Toot) Conant, Annie, Theresa and Verneda Rippe; sisters-in-law, Nina, Milly, Shirley, Elaine, Lottie and Opal; and brothers-in-law, Walt Conant and Ed Rippe.
Survivors include her daughters, Bernadine and husband, Jack Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Janis and husband, Jimmy Bryson of Camp Verde, Ariz.; three sons, Stanley Barenberg of Salina, Kan., David Barenberg and wife, Jacky of Norton, Kan., and Philip Barenberg and wife, Kathy of Parker, Colo.; brother, Joe Schmid of Denver, Colo.; sister, Laura and husband, Dan of Stoneham, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Mary Schmid of Hays, Kan., Frieda Schmid of Louisville, Ky., and Rita Schmid of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial Mass will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, with the Rev. Galen Long officiating. There will be a private inurnment at a later date.
A rosary service will precede the memorial Mass on Friday.
Memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society and Obert Senior?Center in Atwood.
