NORTH?PLATTE -- Patricia Elaine Lyne, 75, of North Platte lost her battle with cancer Saturday (Jan. 27, 2007) at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.

She was born May 13, 1931, in Grand Island to Evald E. and Susie H. Sorensen, At an early age, her family moved to North Platte where she attended school. As a teenager she worked many jobs including kitchen helper at the North Platte Canteen,

On June 5, 1949, she married Wm. Minor Lyne at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte. They made their home in Gothenburg and had four children.

She was involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, bridge club and worked in the office of the family business.

In 1967, the family moved to North Platte where she continued those activities as well as ceramics, bowling, knitting and beading. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress.

In 1996, they retired and traveled the United States in a motor home, eventually settling in Lakewood, N.M., until March 2003, when they returned to North Platte.

They were members of the Escapee RV'rs Club.

Survivors included her devoted husband, Minor Lyne of North Platte; four children, Steve and wife, Karen Lyne of McCook, Don Lyne of Superior, Kellie and husband, Hank Mercer of North Platte and Tamie and husband, Rod Martin of Littleton, Colo.; two brothers, Rick and wife, Marsha Sorensen of Kent, Wash., and Rodney and wife, Rosetta Sorensen of Florissant, Mo,; a brother-in-law, Vaughn Lyne of Broken Bow; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 17 nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and a lifelong friend, Marie Reichert of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Phyllis Robinson and Clair Nelson; and two brothers, Dick Sorensen and Fred Sorensen.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested for the Callahan Cancer Center or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

A memorial service was 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Larry Viter of Faith Chapel at Gothenburg officiating.
