DRESDEN, Kan. -- Pauline M. Ritter, 79, died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2007) at Decatur County Hospital.
She was born Aug. 11, 1927, in rural Dresden, to Frank J. and Anna M. (Meitl) Dempewolf. She grew up on a farm in the Dresden area and attended Fairview No. 77 and Dresden High School. She graduated from Leoville High School in 1945.
On Aug. 21, 1951, she married Francis Ritter in Leoville. They lived in Dresden, where she worked as a homemaker.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Dempewolf; three brothers, Victor, Gerald and Eugene Dempewolf; and two sisters, Carolyn Peterson and Edna Hendrix.
Survivors include her husband, Francis Ritter of Dresden; daughters, Ann Middleton and husband, Bob of Goodland, Kan., Mary Jane Wiltrout and husband, Ford of Wichita, Kan., and Susan McKenna of Eugene, Ore.; sons, David Ritter of St. Francis, John Ritter and wife, Tammi of Dresden, Donald Ritter of Dresden, James Ritter and wife, Connie of Colby, and Gerald Ritter and wife, Phyllis of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Dick and wife, Jean Dempewolf of Colby and Don and wife, Laurene Dempewolf of Oberlin; two sisters, Delores Zerr of Andover, Kan., and Dianne Kleidosty and husband, Myron of Simi Valley, Calif.; sister-in-law, Marion Dempewolf Thornton and husband, R.D. of Culbertson; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church in Leoville, with the Revs. Henry Saw Lone and Roger Meitl officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.
Visitation is today until 4 p.m., at the funeral home in Selden and from 5-8 p.m., at the church in Leoville, with the vigil service at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given in her name.
