DUMAS, Texas -- Gilbert 'Gib' Richards, 83, died Thursday (Jan. 18, 2007) in Dumas, Texas.
Services were today at 10 a.m., in Morrison Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
He was born June 15, 1923, in Stratton, to Prier and Blanche Richards. He served two years in the United States Navy during World War II.
In Aug. 1951, he married Esta Stinnette, who preceded him in death in 2002.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hamilton.
He had been a resident of Dumas since 1976 and was a longtime member of the Dumas Noon Lions Club. He worked for Colorado Interstate Gas for 40 years retiring in July 1987.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheri Arterburn and husband, Ron of Whitewater, Colo.; two brothers, Dale Richards of Van Nuys, Calif., and Wayne Richards of McCook; two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Tara Arterburn of Whitewater, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews, including Wade and Kent Richards.
