WAUNETA -- The Class D1 top-ranked Wauneta-Palisade Broncos continue to trample contenders with a 80-28 pounding over Paxton Friday night.

The Broncos are now 11-0.

Trevor Ridlen swished 20 points to lead the Broncos. Marc Klima and Andrew Isom each scored 17, Russell Ridlen added 10.

Taylor Jay earned 10 points to lead Paxton.

Wauneta-Palisade will travel to Medicine Valley Thursday night.

WAUNETA -- Allison Ellicott hit 4 3-pointers toward 18 points Kaleia Alberts had 15 and Blair Dixon was leading rebounder for the Broncos as Wauneta-Palisade downed the Paxton Tigers 42-32 Friday night.

The Broncos were 11-for-15 from the free-throw line, had 18 fouls and hit 5 3-pointers on the night.

Stacy Rundback had 11 points for the only Tiger in double figures, while her team hit 10 of 16 from the line, commited 19 fouls and hit 2 3-pointers.

Now 9-4, Wauneta Palisade plays at Medicine Valley on Thursday and Sutherland next Saturday. Paxton drops to 4-6 on the year.

ARAPAHOE -- The Warriors came out on top after slugging it out with the Eagles winning 41-40 Friday.

Adam Snyder led the Warriors with 11 points, Adam Borden added 10.

Jared Maruhn scored 13 points for the Eagles.

HAYES CENTER -- The Cardinals improved their record to 9-4 outlasting Maxwell 61-50 Friday.

"Tonight the boys played with a lot of intensity and we made great strides to where we want to get in the end," said coach Louis Cuellar.

"I have to give Maxwell all the credit in the world, they compete so hard and will make a run in the post season. Tonight was a great night to watch two young and up and coming teams."

Matt Gohl led the Cardinals with 12 points 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Jake Rowley added 12 points, Levi Tyan 11 and Luke Clifford 10.

Brandon Stenger and Keifer Burke both scored 12 points for Maxwell.

Hayes Center will host Wallace next Friday.

HAYES CENTER -- The Cardinals took the lead early and finished strong to beat Maxwell 53-32.

"The girls played consistently all four quarters keeping great intensity," said coach Krystal Sauser.

"The girls did a great job rebounding and not giving Maxwell second shots which really helped us keep a comfortable lead."

Randi Steele led the Cardinals with 15 points, Jamie Harms added 14 with 6 rebounds and Terra Bishop had 9 points with 12 rebounds.

SOUTHWEST -- Dundy County dealt Southwest a 43-33 loss Friday night.

"We were cold most of the game," said coach Jeremy Hamilton. "Kyle Glidden played well, he was the difference."

Glidden led the Tigers with 18 points.

Jason Daffer scored 10 for Southwest.

Dundy County will play Southern Valley Tuesday.

Southwest will travel to Bertrand Tuesday.

SOUTHWEST -- The Southwest girls basketball team improved its record to 10-4 Friday beating Dundy County 51-42.

"Dundy County came out and executed very well in the first quarter," said coach Dennis Troester. "Southwest did not rebound or play defense well because of Dundy County's execution.

"In the second quarter we were able to build a 10 point lead only to give up a basket at the buzzer."

Megan Dolan led the Roughriders with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

Lisa Lord added 12 points, Chelsey Quigley had 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Kayla Damrow scored 14 points for the Tigers. Amanda Downey had 10.

Susan Koester led the Tigers with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Staci Koester had 8 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.

Maywood will travel to Hitchcock County next Friday.
