ELWOOD?-- Wilma Louise Sergel, 85, died Monday (Jan. 15, 2007) at Elwood Care Center.

She was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Frontier County to William A. and Louise M. (Seikjost) Schneider. She attended Elwood High School and graduated with the class of 1940.

She taught at various country schools in Frontier and Gosper County. She also worked at W.T. Grants in Lincoln.

On Oct. 2, 1946, she married Paul Charles Sergel in Eustis. They made their home in New Jersey where he worked at the shipyards. She worked for a drug store and delicatessen for numerous years. After their retirement, they moved back to Elwood in 1982.

She was a member of Our Redeemer Church and LWML of Elwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Charles Sergel and brother, Carl Schneider.

Survivors include her three sons, Paul W. and wife, Theresa of Rio Rancho, NM., Neil and wife, Lori of Valley and William H. Sergel of Elwood; two sisters, Eleanor Nott and husband, Raleigh of Elwood and Lorene Houston and husband, Dave of Bend, Ore.; one brother, Robert and wife, Marilyn Schneider of Elwood; sister-in-law, Lorraine Schneider of Elwood; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, with the Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., at Elwood Funeral Home and prior to services at the church on Saturday. Condolences or personal reflections may be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com.
