Dutoit paces Hastings men

HASTINGS -- The No. 21 Hastings College men's basketball team defeated Doane College 80-70 Wednesday night in Hastings.

The Broncos improved their impressive win streak to four in a row.

The Broncos were led by McCook senior Krae Dutoit, this week's GPAC Player of the Week, with 24 points including 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

Dutoit also added 2 rebounds and 4 assists.

Junior Bobby Kempf added 17 points for the Broncos to go along with 7 rebounds. Junior Cory Fehringer had 8 points and a game-high 9 rebounds. Senior Mike Snyder chipped in with 10 points and 4 rebounds.

The Broncos would ice the game from the free throw line down the stretch as they were 17-of-19 in the second half. The Broncos shot 51.9 percent from the field.

The Tigers were led by Brent Cole with 18 points and 5 rebounds.

The Broncos improved to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Next up for the Broncos they will travel to Orange City, Iowa Saturday to take on Northwestern College in a 4 p.m. game.

Northwestern received votes in the latest NAIA poll.

Hastings women 64,

Doane College 62

HASTINGS -- The No. 15 Hastings College women's basketball team defeated No. 24 Doane College 64-62 in conference action Wednesday night in Hastings.

The Broncos won their eight straight game.

The Broncos were led by junior Hruka Yamashito who had 17 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. Senior Stacy Svoboda added 15 points and a team high 11 rebounds while freshman Heather McKeon chipped in with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Leading the way for the Doane Tigers was Alissa Holland with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The Broncos improved their overall record to 15-4 and 6-2 in conference play.

The Hastings women will play Northwestern College at Orange City, Iowa at 2 p.m. Saturday.
