Bison JV wrestlers compete at Sutherland

SUTHERLAND -- The McCook High School junior varsity wrestling team traveled to Sutherland Tuesday night with nine wrestlers and brought home some hardware.

"Many of these wrestlers are first or second year wrestlers and their improvement is tremendous from the beginning of the year until now," said McCook wrestling coach Nick Umscheid.

"These guys have gutted it out and their hard work is really starting to show up on the mat. All we ask is that the wrestlers go out there on the mat and give it 100 percent every match and these guys do that.

"Not all of their matches look the sharpest but they usually find a way to pull it out with a lot of heart and determination. These wrestlers are gaining valuable mat time and if they continue to improve they will eventually fight their way onto the varsity level."
