OBERLIN -- Donald D. Scott, 80, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2007) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born Oct. 7, 1926, to George Henry and Gladys (Waldo) Scott on a farm northwest of Oberlin. He grew up on the farm and attended East Liberty Grade School and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1944.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to the family farm and married Alene Krizek on Oct. 5, 1950, in Oberlin. He worked as a farmer and a rancher.
He was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church, Oberlin American Legion Post No. 70 and Antique Car Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys, and a brother, Roland "Rollie" Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Alene of Oberlin; two sons, Lee Don and wife, Melanie of Oberlin and Mark Scott of Sioux City; one daughter, Kay Danburg and husband, Rick of Grand Island; half-sister, June Vavroch of Hayes, Kan.; sister-in-law, Karon Scott of Oberlin; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m., until the time of service.
Memorials may be given to Oberlin United Methodist Church, Oberlin American Legion No. 70, and Decatur County Hospital.
