CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. -- Doris A. Bower Ball, 86, died Nov. 26, 2006, in Citrus Heights.

She was born in a family of 11 children in Danbury on June 22, 1920. She graduated from Danbury High School.

She was married to Arlie Bower of McCook for 50 years. He preceded her in death in 1990. She lived in Richmond, Calif. and worked as a chief bookkeeper at the Richmond Independent newspaper for 14 years.

She was a member of the Richmond Business and Professional Women and a past president of the Atchison Village Women's Club.

She loved traveling in their motor home, painting, sewing and rock hunting.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Englehardt and husband, Bob of Lincoln Hills, Calif.; a son Edward Bower and wife, Sandra of Spokane, Wash.; granddaughters, Debra Rodriguez and Kathi James; grandsons Rick and Scott Englehardt; and great-grandchildren Kyle, Cory, Christopher, September Lauren and Luke Edward.

No funeral services were held. Inurnment will be at Oakmont Memorial Park 2099 Reliez Valley Rd., Lafayette, CA 94549.
