Jacquelin "Jackie" Jean Gallatin, 78, of McCook, died Tuesday (Dec. 26, 2006) at Community Hospital in McCook.

She was born Feb. 25, 1928, at Bartley, to John Ellsworth and Helen Ann (Hoffstrand) Gallatin. She attended school at Danbury.

She later moved to Lincoln and worked in the Lancaster Office of Mental Retardation Workshops. She did factory and piece work contracts. She also filed and collated papers with a 90-percent accuracy. She attended GED classes in Lincoln and later McCook when she retired.

She returned to McCook where she was a member of the Swatter's 4-H Club. She was involved in the Special Olympics, winning numerous awards and ribbons in bowling, at both county and state levels.. Her team also attended the national championship in Huntsville, Ala., earning first place.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Helen Gallatin and step-mother, Ina (McDonald) Gallatin.

Survivors include her brother, Dwight Gallatin and wife, Susanna, of McCook; two sisters, Sandra Gallatin of McCook and Bonnell and husband, Waldo Carfield, of Aurora, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with the Rev. Jon Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
