ARAPAHOE -- Madge Merna Hill, 93, formerly of Arapahoe, died Saturday (Dec. 23, 2006) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born Dec. 1, 1913, at Edison, to Clyde and Lillian (Bishop) Fleharty. She attended school in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 1932.
She taught school from 1934-1936 at Snowball Country School northwest of Arapahoe.
On March 14, 1936, she married Lee K. Hill at Ceresco. They moved to a farm in Wisconsin. They returned to Nebraska and farmed near Edison and Arapahoe until their retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Lee, in 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna and husband, Ronald Brewster of McCook; a son, Ken and wife, Cheryl of Grand Island; three sisters, Ilda Dodson of McCook, Esther Farrington of Little Silver, N.J., and Gladys and husband, Ray Aldrich of McCook; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. Michael Flury officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the services at the church.
