Gabrielle Layne Smith of McCook and Joel Scott Bednar of Miller were united in marriage on Aug. 5. 2006 at the McCook Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Bruce Lester officiating.

Parents of the couple are Dave and Jan Smith of McCook and Bob and Sandy Bednar of Miller. Grandparents of the bride are Gene and Dorothy Smith of North Platte. Grandparents of the bridegroom are Richard and Arlys Kleckner of Miller and Iona and Don Schafer of Sumner.

The matron of honor was Neleigh Korth, sister of the bride, of Ogallala. Maid of honor was Marissa Smith, sister of the bride, of Lincoln. Bridesmaids were Tayler McMinamen of Denver, Emily Eisenmenger of Omaha, Tiffany Stanton of Fort Worth, Texas, Jill Fahnholz of Kearney and Bethany Bates of Kearney.

Bruce and Brent Bednar, brothers of the bride and both of Lincoln, were the best men. Bridegroomsmen were Jay Perkins of Lincoln, Danny McClenehan of Lincoln, Trevor Scoville of David City, and Deric and Scott Robbins, cousins of the bridegroom, of Sumner.

Olivia Smith, cousin of the bride, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, served as flower girl. Ringer bearers were Adam and Ben Smith, cousins of the bride, of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A reception was held in the community building in McCook. Host couples were Mark and Julie McMinamen of Kearney and Tim and Sue Moomey of Holdrege.

The bride is in Physical Therapy School at the University of Nebraska Center in Omaha.

The bridegroom is a fifth grade teacher in the Elkhorn Public School System.

After a honeymoon in Florida, the couple is making their home in Omaha.
