HERNDON -- Kenneth O. Sattler, 77, died Monday (Dec. 18, 2006), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born April 24, 1929, in rural Herndon, to Otto and Elizabeth (Kircher) Sattler. He was raised on the family farm and attended country schools, St. Mary's and Herndon High School.
He married Emma Sattler and they continued to live on the family farm. He was a farmer and a rancher.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Sattler; a sister, Eleanor Romine; and four brothers-in-law, Bob Romine, Ernie Riepl, Richard Callahan and Robert McAdams.
Survivors include his wife, Emma of Herndon; two sons, John and wife, Glenda Sattler of Park City, Kan., and Troy and wife, Lee Ann Sattler of Herndon; a daughter, Teri and husband, Donnie Dechant of LaSalle, Colo; six sisters, Laverne Calhaun of Des Moines, Iowa, Rosanna McAdams of Tarok, Mo., Alvina Smith and husband, Dan of Atwood, Margie McLaren and husband, Tom of Chanute, Kan., Doris Reiner and husband, Dennis of Palisade and Bernadine Phannanstiel and husband, Harvey of Westminster, Colo.; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Galen Long officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.
Visitation is Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and at 6 p.m., at the church in Herndon, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday at 8 a.m., until the time of the service at the church.
