COLBY, Kan. -- Erik P. Erickson 95, died Friday (Dec. 15, 2006) at Citizen Medical Center in Colby.
He was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Herndon to Olaf and Christina (Westman) Erickson. He grew up in rural Herndon and attended Laing Township School and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1930.
He enter the U.S. Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1945. He married Wilberta Jean Boardman on June 29, 1947, in California. They lived in California until 1958. They moved to Oberlin in 2002 and then Colby. He worked as a farmer, welder, and for Anderson Implement.
He was a member of the Oberlin American Legion Post No. 70.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Colby; one son, Alan Erickson and wife, Pat of Colby; one daughter, Sharon Lohoefener and husband, Bill of North Platte; a sister, Mildred Lang of San Leandro,?Calif.; sister-in-law, Elma Lee Erickson of Herndon; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment will follow in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be given to the Erik Erickson Memorial Scholarship for Decatur Community High School wrestlers.
