OBERLIN -- Everett George Fisher, 84, formerly of McCook, died Friday (Dec. 15, 2006) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Lebanon, to Andrew George and Bessie Elizabeth (Hiatt) Fisher. He grew up in the Cambridge community.

On Aug. 27, 1942, he entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 7, 1946.

He married Florence McDowell in Oberlin, on Oct. 31, 1944. They made their home in McCook where they were owners and operators of Fisher Produce. When their health failed they moved to Decatur Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin. Florence preceded him in death on April 13, 2005.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bessie Fisher; a brother, Eldwin Fisher; and one sister, Ella DeMark.

Survivors include his son, Harold Fisher and his wife, Diane, of Culbertson; two daughters, Colleen Geihsler of Oberlin and Cheryl and husband, Dale Stewart, of Indianola; one brother, Andrew Fisher, Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Gretna; two sisters, Mary and husband, Marty Maranville, of Sedona, Ariz., and Erma Hisel of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. - noon and Sunday 4-8 p.m.
