Dennis Lynn Garrett died Saturday (Dec. 9, 2006) at McCook Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 63.
He was born Oct. 15, 1943, at Alliance, the son of the late Donald and Dorothy (Colerick) Garrett. He grew up at Alliance where he graduated from Alliance High School in 1961.
On Jan. 18, 1969, he married Julianne Pape at Alliance. They moved to Littleton, Colo., before returning to Alliance where he was employed by UPS moving to Kearney in 1975. They came to McCook in 1976 where he continued with UPS until starting his own independent trucking brokerage business in 1979. He was preceded in death by his wife Julianne on Oct. 29, 2003.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed Bison football.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two daughters, Denille Burke of Alliance, Elizabeth Garrett of McCook; one son, Aaron Garrett and special friend, Michael Dill of McCook; three grandchildren, Garrett Burke, and twins Chase and Adin Garrett-Knight; three brothers, Randy Garrett and wife, Julie, Greg Garrett and wife, Cheryl all of Alliance and Larry Garrett and wife, Barbara of Gothenburg; mother-in-law, Angela Pape of McCook; sister-in-law, Janet Schaffer of Phoenix, Ariz.; and relatives and friends.
Rosary will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery in McCook.
Memorials may be given in his name and friends may sign his Memorial Register until 9 p.m.
