TORRINGTON, Wyo. -- Robert "Bob" Louis Solko, 75, died Nov. 17, 2006, in Eugene, Ore.

He was born Aug. 25, 1931, to Herman and Luella (Kompus) Solko on a farm near Herndon. He graduated from Herndon High School in 1949.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

On Dec. 24, 1964, he married Ethel Hotze in McCook. He worked at the McCook Montgomery Ward as a mechanic, sold insurance and was then employed by Wheelers. He accepted a promotion to manager for the Torrington, Wyo., Wheelers store in 1976. After retiring from Wheelers, he worked part-time at the Ten Pins Bowling Tropics in Torrington.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Torrington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Ethel

Survivors include a daughter, Kristin Heck of Eugene; three sisters, Betty Horinek of Trenton, Lila Leitner of Herndon, and Shirley Anderson of Denver, Colo.; and one grandson.

At his request, his body was cremated and there were no services

Cremated at Rest-Haven in Eugene.
