LUDELL -- Joseph "Joe" F. Schmaderer 82, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2006) at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan.

He was born April 9, 1924, on a farm in Red Willow County. He grew up on a farm north of Herndon and later moved with the family to a farm southeast of Atwood in 1938. He attended rural one-room schools both in Nebraka and Kansas.

He was a lifetime farmer until his retirement. He was awarded the Rawlins County Wildlife Habitat award and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus No. 3033 both of Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Josephine, Delores Mumm and Helen Green; and one brother-in-law, John Green.

Survivors include his brother, Al and wife, Marlene of Manhattan, Kan.; three nephews; one niece; and numerous relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Galen Long officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Tully.

A parish vigil and Knights of Columbus rosary is today at 5:30 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be given in his name to the church.
