Maurice Fulton Couse passed away at his home in McCook, Dec. 2, 2006, at the age of 74, with his wife and children by his side.
He was born April 14, 1932, at the Butler-Couse Homestead east of McCook, in Red Willow County to Roger and Myrle (Stuart) Couse. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and farmed with his dad until joining the United States Air Force in 1952.
In 1956 he returned to Nebraska where he worked for CB&Q Railroad and farmed with his father. On March 26, 1959, he married Wavalee Howell in McCook they resided on the family farm until 1983. He worked for Dayco and the United States Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier until his retirement in 1996.
He always found time for his grandchildren's activities, fishing, camping, and his coffee group. He will always be remembered for his great love of his family, his sense of humor, airplanes, birds, and classical music.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rita Couse and his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Wavalee; two daughters, Deborah Rogers and husband, Bill of Bartley and Marlyn Peters and husband, Rod of McCook; three sons, Bob Kerr and wife, Tammy of McCook, Scott Couse and Sherry Halstead of North Platte, and Ryan Couse of Central City; two sisters, Marilyn Petersen, and Barbara Wilson and husband, Gene of Parker, Colo.; two brothers, Stuart Couse and wife, Bobbie of Littleton Colo., and Virgil Couse and wife, Alice of Denver Colo..; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special dog, Cassie, aka "Killer".
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Chapel in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
