OSAGE CITY, Kan. -- Rowena Lee Anderson, 69, died Friday (Nov. 24, 2006) at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kan.
She was born Feb. 26, 1937, to Noel and Julia (Clark ) Bissel. She graduated from Hays High School in 1956 and joined the United States Air Force, serving from Oct. 1956, until being honorably dischargedd in 1958.
She lived in Japan for a few years after leaving the military. She later lived in Iowa and settled in Nebraska in the 1970's. She moved ot Osage City in May 2005.
She worked as a cook at Wilmot's Fireside Inn in McCook for 20 years. On Aug. 1, 1996, she married Roy Anderson in Trenton. He preceded her in death in December 1998.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lora Foster of Lincoln and Debbi Davenport and husband, Jim of Osage City; two sons, Danny Ball of Lincoln and Leon Ball of McCook; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Sunday at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. A private inurnment with military honors will be in McCook at a later date.
