Darryl Lee Tucker, of McCook, died Saturday (Nov. 18, 2006). He was 76 years old.
He was born Dec. 17, 1929, in a sod house northwest of Hayes Center to R. T. and Zella Hortense (Ballard) Tucker. He attended Hayes Center Schools.
On April 11, 1951, he married Frances Louise McNutt at Imperial. To this union four children were born. He worked for the city of McCook, he was a janitor for the McCook schools, and was a pumper in the oil fields for KTK until his retirement.
His favorite pastime was spent collecting farm antiques and restoring them, especially old John Deere tractors and cars. He spent hours going through magazines collecting pictures and compiling albums of old-time memorabilia having some 25 albums.
He was a member of McCook American Legion and Southwest Nebraska Antique Car Club.
Preceding him in death were his parents, R.T. and Zella Tucker; two sisters, Helen Cotton and Mildred Beck; one brother, Delbert Tucker; one grandson, Trent Davis; and nephew, Kenneth Ray Tucker.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Louise Tucker of McCook; two daughters, Deb and husband, Doug Lau of Culbertson and Dari and husband, Jim Olson of McCook; two sons, Raymond Tucker and wife, Pam of Stillwater, Pa., and Kevin Tucker and wife, Melissa of McCook; three sisters, Wilma Witman of Greeley, Colo., Thelma and husband, Richard Walter of McCook and Lena and husband, Harold Mihm of Palisade; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name.
