Robert Lloyd Bacon 84, died Friday (Nov. 17, 2006) at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.
He was born April 9, 1922 at Peru, the son of the late Charles M. and Jennie M. (Richardson) Bacon. He grew up in Auburn where he graduated from Auburn High School.
On Oct. 29, 1956, he married Kimuko "Jean" Yamamoto at Tokoyo, Japan. Following his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, they came to McCook, where he worked for Dayco Electric Hose Co., retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed playing cards, horse races and was an avid sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Boyd, Ray, Carl, Charles, George and twin brother, Floyd; four sisters, Florence Cross, Laura McCurdy, Hazel Coulter and Lucille Campbell.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Bacon; one daughter, Linda Wallen and husband, Craig of McCook; four sons, Charles Bacon, Ronald Bacon and wife, Sherrie all of Lincon, Richard Bacon and wife, Mary of Humbolt, and Robert Bacon of Nebraska City; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Graveside inurment services with military honors will be Tuesday at 11 a.m., at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell with Chaplain Norval Holtmeier officiating.
Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m.
