Wilma Meints, 78, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2006), at Community Hospital in McCook.
She was born Aug. 1, 1928, four miles north of Wauneta to Raymond and Alta (Lentz) Handel. She attended school in Palisade.
On June 21, 1947, she married Paul Meints in Oberlin. They made their home in Wauneta where she worked in a creamery. For several years she was an interior/exterior house painter and wall paper restorer. They moved to McCook in the late 70s to take over the E. F. D. Freight Delivery Service. She retired to take care of her brother, Kenneth Handel.
She was a volunteer with the Special Olympics for years. She was also a member of the Southwest Nebraska Antique and Rod Club in which she drove and showed her 1956 Ford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Kenneth.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; a son, Pete Meints and wife, Geraldine of McCook; a sister, Mary Miller and husband, Gene of Cambridge; one grandson; and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services were today at 10 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta.
