HOLDREGE -- Spencer L. Lonn, 66, died Sunday (Oct. 29, 2006) at Holdrege Memorial Homes.
He was born Nov. 10, 1939, on the family farm north of Alma in Harlan County to Roy and Almeda (Covey) Lonn. On March 24, 1940, he was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Oxford. He attended school in Omaha and Oxford and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1958.
On Feb. 13, 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country until his honorable discharge on April 9, 1962.
On June 27, 1964, he married Mary Lou Haller in Heartwell. They adopted a daughter, Tena Louise and made their home in Funk. He worked at the Farmers Coop in Funk and later at Artistic Woven Labels in Holdrege until his retirement.
He was a member of ABATE, the American Legion Post No. 66 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles both of Holdrege.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one nephew, Jason Stroup.
Survivors include his daughter, Tena Ackley and husband, Harold "Bud" of Ravenna; four grandchildren; four sisters, Iola Anderson and husband, Jesse of Funk, Daphne Stagemeyer and husband, Paul of Arapahoe, Vivian McDorman and husband, Charles of Funk and Patty Baumann and husband Don of Denver, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A private family memorial graveside service will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
