Bison boys basketball team to conduct sixth grade intramural program

Monday, October 23, 2006

McCooh High School head boys basketball coach Tim Garcia announced that the 6th grade intramural basketball program will begin on Tuesday morning in the senior high gym.

The three-week program will begin at 6:45 a.m. on each day school is in session, Monday thru Thursday, and be finished by 7:45 a.m. There will be no practices on Friday mornings.

The players will be coached by coaches Garcia and Monte Else, as well as by several Bison basketball players.

"This will be a great opportunity for the sixth graders to meet and get to know our Bison basketball players," Garcia said.

He said it is also good for his players to instruct younger players on the skills necessary to become a future player for the Bison.

"I love to give my players the opportunity to teach and to reach out to our future players," Garcia said. "Many of these varsity level players are role models for not just sixth graders, but to all of the youth of McCook, and I want them to embrace that responsibility and have a positive relationship with these kids."

All 6th grade boys are encouraged to participate in the program and parents are more than welcome to attend as well. All questions or concerns should be sent to coach Garcia at tgarcia@esu15.org.
