OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Jerry Dean McCrumb, 43, formerly of Wauneta, died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2006) at his home.
He was born July 7, 1963, at Imperial, to Al and Marilyn McCrumb. They lived on a farm north of Max and he attended school in Wauneta, graduating in 1981.
He attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kan., and played football for the Kansas Jayhawks. In December 1981, he played in the KU Hall of Fame Bowl Game. He also attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., and Southeast Community College in Milburn where he earned a degree in diesel technology with a construction option in 1987.
On Sept. 21, 1986, he married Deborah Kallevig of Overland Park. They later divorced.
He was a Boy Scout leader and was a Little League coach for football, basketball, T-ball and baseball.
He worked at Northland Trucking in Kansas City, Mo.
He is survived by two sons, Luke and Steven; his parents; one sister, Sheila and husband, Rich; former wife, Deborah; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Wauneta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Judith Dye officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
The casket will be open before services Monday for visitation.
