Marvin Ray Bailey

NORCATUR -- Marvin Ray Bailey, 81, died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2006), at Decatur County Hospital.

He was born Nov. 13, 1914, in rural Kanona, Kan., to Ray William and Mabel Kate (Ruebesom) Bailey. He was raised on a farm near Kanona and attended Kanona and Norcatur schools.

On Sept. 27, 1947, he married Norma Marie Green in Oberlin. He lived on the Bailey farmstead all of his life except for 10 years spent in Norcatur.

He was a farmer.

He was a member of the Kanona Methodist Church, Altory Township Trustee Board, and the Kanona School Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Syl Golka; and siblings Merl Bailey and Pearl Van Sickler.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of rural Jennings; sons, Chris and wife, Karen Bailey of Norcatur and Heath Lee Bailey of Larned, Kan.; daughters, Sharroll Golka of Cozad and Sheila and husband, Robert Martin of West Lake Village, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Mr. Dewayne Jackson officiating. Interment will be at the Norcatur Cemetery in Norcatur.

Visitation is Sunday, 1-8 p.m., and Monday, 8 a.m., until the time of the service.

Memorials may be addressed to the Norcatur Cemetery Fund.

Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin is in charge of arrangements.
