Grace Vesper Mullanix

Grace Vesper Mullanix, 102, died Thursday (Sept.28, 2006), at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

She was born May 30, 1904, in Frontier County, to Claude M. and Laura M. (Gherring) Spaulding.  She graduated from Curtis High School in 1923.  She taught in rural Frontier County schools for seven years.

On May 19, 1926, she married Neal Mullanix in North Platte. They made their home on a farm in Frontier County where she was a homemaker and helped with the farming operation. Neal preceded her in death in 1984.

She was a 79-year member of the McCook Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Laura Spalding; her husband, Neal Mullanix; one granddaughter, Minnie Ann Mullanix; and two great-grandchildren, Amy and Tommy Lightner.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Mullanix and wife, Donna, of McCook and Gerald Mullanix and wife, Gladys, of Grand Island; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon and Monday from 9 a.m. until 8p.m.  Family will be receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name to Memorial United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.
