CURTIS -- Edwin A. Kline, 94, died Monday (Sept. 25, 2006) at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.
He was born March 10, 1912, in St. Francis, Kan., to Jacob and Elizabeth (Morhart) Kline. The family moved to Beverly, where he attended schools in Palisade, Culbertson and McCook.
On April 1, 1942, he entered the U.S. Army serving in the 358th Infrantry during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Army on June 14, 1943, he returned to McCook, where he worked as a master mechanic for Burlington Railroad.
He later moved to Denver, Colo., where he worked in the track repair department until retiring in 1976. He returned to McCook in 1986, and moved to Sunset Haven Nursing Home in May 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Albert, Edward, William and Theodore Kline; and two sisters, Katherine Kline and Elizabeth Swayze.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Riverview Cemetery in McCook, with the Rev. Brad Rick of St. John's Luthern Church in?Culbertson officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call the funeral home from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
