Two named to Bison Alumni Wall of Fame

Friday, September 22, 2006
Inductees onto the McCook High School "Bison Alumni Wall of Fame" for 2006 are Robert Douglass, Class of 1955, and Toby Warren, Class of 1984.

The Wall of Fame recognizes MHS graduates of at least 10 years who have contributed significantly to their profession and community. Engraved plaques featuring photographs and descriptions of inductees' accomplishments are on permanent display on the wall at the north end of the main hall of the high school, near the auditorium.

TOBY WARREN

Toby Warren owns Warren Technical Services Inc., which holds the contract as the Olympic engineering manager in charge of broadcast transmission of the Olympic Games to the United States through the 2008 summer games in Beijing, China.

An achievement record of 99.99 percent accuracy in transmissions from Athens and Salt Lake City competitions earned Warren a television Emmy award for "Outstanding Technical Team Studio."

To achieve this percentage of accuracy allows only four minutes and 19 seconds of down time during a month of broadcasts. To prepare for the broadcasts, Warren designs multiple paths for the broadcast signal via undersea cable and through satellite transmission. During the games, Warren is responsible for managing a 10-member team that monitors the broadcast and ensures its quality. Brother Brett Warren, Class of 2000, is often a member of that crew. Toby, an Air Force veteran, and his family live in Denver.

ROBERT DOUGLASS

Many years of service as an architect/planner and healthcare and management consultant are highlights of the second inductee, Robert Douglass. His multi-disciplinary, multi-industry professional career names accomplishments in the areas of architecture and planning; healthcare; management consulting; business; real estate; facilities and construction management;

teaching; and writing and editing.

A world traveler, Douglass has been to more than 60 countries with teaching and professional assignments in no less than 16. His designs have been implemented for major expansions of at least 60 university teaching hospitals. Eighty-seven of the nation's academic medical centers house his projects.

Douglass served as book editor for Managing the Health Facility Development Process and was a guest editor for two editions of "Progressive Architecture."

Until its sale in 1988, Robert Douglass Associates was among the busiest healthcare consulting firms in strategic and facility planning.

Other honors earned include the "Distinguished Alumni" award from the University of Nebraska College of Architecture, and establishment of Douglass Associates scholarships at the University of Minnesota.

Nominees for the Alumni Wall of Fame are welcome at any time and may be sent to representative Steve Clapp c/o MHS, 600 W. Seventh, McCook, NE 69001.
