ANACORTES, Wash. -- Maureen Merideth Scrimsher, 75, died Thursday (Sept. 7, 2006) at Fidalgo Care Center in Anacortes, Wash.
She was born Jan. 10 , 1931, in Elwood, to Walter and May (DeBoer) Major. The family later moved to Culbertson, where her father was the manager of the Culbertson Coop. She attended Culbertson High School and graduated in 1948.
On Nov. 19, 1950, she married Ronald Scrimsher in Richland, Wash. They then moved to Anacortes, Wash., in 1954, where she was a mother, homemaker and grandmother.
She was a member of the Anacortes Garden Club, and volunteered in the schools and Girl Scouts.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Major.
Survivors include her son, Steve Scrimsher of Nehalem, Org.; two daughters, Ronda Dupea of Anacortes, Wash., and Debra McElroy of issaquah, Wash.; three sisters, Lois Hopkins of Piuallup, Wash., Vivian Bryant of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Phyllis Stevens of Ferndale, Wash.; seven grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of traditional services an ice cream social will be at 1 p.m., Sunday at the Dewey Beach Community Center/Fire Hall in Anacortes, Wash.
