CURTIS -- Doris V. Phillips, 90, of Cambridge, formerly of Curtis, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2006), at the Cambridge Manor.

She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Curtis to William "Bill" F. and Lula E. (Wills) Linnemeyer. She grew up in Curtis and graduated high school from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis. After Normal School Training in Kearney, she taught rural school in the Curtis and Maywood areas.

On Jan. 28, 1940, she married Bernard E. Phillips in Elwood. After living in California for a few years they returned to Curtis. She retired from the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service in Curtis. Following the death of her husband, she moved to the Heritage Plaza Retirement Village in Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; two sisters, Veda Saeger and Leona Nichols; and one brother, Lewis.

Survivors include a son, Jade "Bernie" Phillips and wife, Evelyn of Beaver City; one brother Dick and wife, Jean Linnemeyer of McCook; one sister-in-law, Mary Nell of Dannebrog; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Burkhardt officiating. Inurnment will be in the Curtis Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Medicine Valley Educational Foundation.
