HOLBROOK --?Martha Lydia Haussler, 103, formerly of Holbrook, died Monday (Sept. 11, 2006) at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
She was born Nov. 15, 1902, at Fort Wayne, Ind., to August and Lydia (Ludwig) Rodenbeck. She attended Emmaus Lutheran Church and School at Fort Wayne.
In 1913, her family moved to Holbrook and she attended St. Matthews Lutheran Church and School.
On Dec. 11, 1923, she married Frederick A.C.?Haussler in Holbrook. They lived on a farm northwest of Holbrook until 1951, when they moved into Holbrook.
On Jan. 8, 1967, they joined the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. After her husband's death, she moved to Grand Island in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick on Jan. 8, 1993; five brothers, Ervin, August, Kurt, Frederick, and an infant brother; one sister, Ella Hockmeier; grandson, Eugene Haussler; two great-grandchildren; and two son-in-laws, Donald Mayes and Warren Heinzman.
She is survived by her son Frederick "Fritz" and wife, Elaine of Holbrook; two daughters, Elaine Mayes and Thelma Heinzman, both of Grand Island; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. Royce Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow at the Holbrook Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service on Friday at the church.
