KEARNEY --?E. Marie Williams, 92, died Saturday (August 26, 2006) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born Sept. 27, 1913, to Warren and Agnes (Beery) Bratt. She graduated from Beaver City High School in 1931.
On Feb. 23, 1936, she married Bede F. Williams in Arapahoe, where they owned Williams Brothers Department Store. The couple moved to Kearney in 1961 where they opened the Unimart Thrift Center.
She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney and she and her husband were founding members of the Kearney Kiwanis Club. She was involved with the American Red Cross, Women's Club, Newcomers and the Bloodmobile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; her husband of 56 years; and two infant children.
Survivors include her sons, Ron Williams and wife, Carol of Atwood, Hugh Williams of Joplin, Mo., Gregory Williams and wife, Nancy of Kearney, Todd Williams and wife, Tina of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Jan Williams of San Diego of Calif., and Suzanne Ward and husband, Bill of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one sister Berniece James of Katy, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, with the Rev. Charles Torpey officiating. Burial will follow in the Kearney Cemetery.
Vigil wake services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Visitation will be Wednesday from, 3-5 p.m. at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation for the Bede F. and E. Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship.
