ST. FRANCIS, Kan. -- Verna Fern (Gipe) Cormack, 73, died Monday (Aug. 7, 2006) at the Cheyenne County Hospital in St. Francis.

She was born Nov. 17, 1932, to Harry Lee and Mary Edna (Burr) Gipe in Cheyenne County, Kan. She worked as a packaging laborer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Cormack in 1992.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Chamberlin of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, Louis Gipe of Bird City, Kan.; three sisters, Lily Ruth Edmonston of Bird City, Kan.; Mildred May Bangerter, and Leona Lena Ross both of Utah; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 10:30 at the Imanuel United Methodist Church in Bird City. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given in her name.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Knodel Funeral Home of St. Francis is in charge of arrangments.
