SELDEN -- Steven Leslie Shuler, 56, died Saturday (Aug. 5, 2006) at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colo.
He was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Oberlin, to Fred and Josie (Beal) Shuler. He was raised on a farm southwest of Selden and attended grade and high school in Selden and graduated from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin in 1968. He joined the U.S. Army and spent three years in Germany.
He returned to Selden and worked as a farmer. On March 7, 1968 he married Sherri Lotker in Selden, they later divorced.
He was a member of the Selden United Methodist Church and the Selden American Legion Post No. 321.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger; and two sisters Beth Ann Shuler and Eunice Smith.
Survivors include his companion, Ilene Seas of Wichita, Kan.; former wife, Sherri Lotker, of Denver, Colo.; two sons, Samuel Suhuler of Virginia Beach, Va., and Matthew and wife, Desiree Schroch of Godfrey, Ill.; two daughters, Amy Gavieiro of Germany, and Deborah Shuler and Jeremy Shaw of Selden; one brother, Everett and wife, Doreen of Oberlin; a brother-in-law, Charles Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Ellen Kay Walker of Clay Center, Kan; and 10 granchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Selden, with the Rev. Daniel Kim officiating. Interment will follow at the Rexford Cemetery in Rexford, Kan.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
