Geneva L. Kastens

ATWOOD -- Geneva?L. Kastens, 87, formerly of Atwood, died Monday (July 31, 2006) in Monroe, Wash.

She was born on July 27, 1919, in Vinita, Okla., to Ernest and Pearl Banzet. The family later moved to Herndon, where she attended Dike Country School and graduated from Herndon High School.

On Aug. 15, 1941, she married Edwin Kastens in Norton, Kan. In 1942, she was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Ludell, Kan. They farmed near McDonald, Kan. In 1989, following her husband's death, she moved to Atwood. In 1998 she moved to Monroe, Wash, to be closer to her daughter.

Survivors include her two sons, Al Kasten and wife, Colleen of Benkelman and George Kastens and wife, Margaret of Atwood; one daughter, Sandra Walker and husband, Ray of Carnation, Wash.; a sister, Geraldine Iozzo and husband, Nicholas of Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, Denzil Banzet and wife, Peg and Albert Ray Banzet all of Parsons, Kan., Marvin Banzet and wife, Ruth of Erie, Kan., and Dallas Banzet of Vivian, La.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood. Inurnment will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ludell.

In leiu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of choice.

Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of arrangments.
